Blood donation process changing

LEXINGTON — Kentucky Blood Center has implemented a new electronic blood donation process that allows donors to answer required health-history questions using a touch-screen tablet provided at the donation site.

Donors can also use QuickPass to complete those questions on their personal computer, tablet or smartphone on the same day as their donation prior to arriving for their donation. QuickPass can be accessed by visiting kybloodcenter.org and clicking on Menu and then QuickPass.

Donors can try out the new electronic system at this upcoming blood drive where donors will receive an “I’m not a chicken” shirt to show off their bravery.

The City of Danville Community Blood Drive will be Wednesday, May 1 from 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m. in the Heart of Danville Community Room at Boyle County Public Library at 307 W. Broadway.

Blood donors must be at least 17-years-old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, show a photo I.D. and meet additional requirements. Sixteen-year-old donors must have a signed parental permission slip, which can be found at kybloodcenter.org.

Walk-ins are welcome. To schedule a donation, visit kybloodcenter.org or call 800-775- 2522.
