South half of ‘streetscape’ project substantially complete

Bluegrass Contracting has completed most of the granite curb, concrete sidewalk, concrete verge, entrances and change order work on the south side of Main from Fourth to Fifth streets. The last concrete pours on Thursday completed major work. Bluegrass has done pretty well so far, even with some members of the public insisting on walking and driving through green concrete.

Before the Great American Brass Band Festival this week, they will clean up the site before returning to finish after the event.

The city hopes to have the sidewalks open and ask pedestrians to continue using caution in the area when they pass through.

Danville’s Public Works Department is finishing some utility cut pavement patches from the past as well as other housekeeping activities. The following week of June 10, Bluegrass Construction plans to begin on the north side of Main at Fourth Street and will continue the work toward city hall.
