The list of honors keep coming for Boyle County senior pitcher Katy Grace Chadwell as the KSCA named her the 2A Player of the Year on Sunday.

The award, part of the All-State and East West All-Star team selections, of both Chadwell was a  selection, joins her 12th Region Tournament MVP trophy she won for her performance during the final week of May.

Head coach Brian Deem views this not just as a huge honor for Chadwell, but for the entire Boyle County team.

“It’s a testament to what we’re doing with our program. With our schedule, and the work our coaching staff puts in is paying off,” he said.

As for Chadwell herself, he believes that she will accept the award in a fashion that lives up to her name.

“I think she’ll handle it with great respect and grace.”

In addition to her 20 win season as a pitcher, in which she posted a 2.34 earned run average and a 1.13 WHIP, she also hit for a .397 batting average and slugged .667. She had 11 doubles, seven home runs, and drove in 44 runs for the year.

Chadwell, who had to be held out of pitching earlier in the season, has come on strong down the stretch, leading the Rebels to their third consecutive 12th Region title after they failed to win the 45th district tournament, snapping a streak of seven district titles in a row.

A senior, Chadwell now sets her sights on the KHSAA State Tournament before going off to Campbellsville University in the fall. She and the rest of the Rebels will face off against Male High School in the first round on Friday June 14 at 7p.m.
