Boyle County junior Zach McCoy threw 20 consecutive strikes on Tuesday, Dec. 17 to help lead the Rebels to a 1st place finish in the tournament.

Bowlarama holds a monthly tournament from October through January and invites 16 teams — eight boys and eight girls teams — to compete.

The rules of the tournament are “baker” games, in which five bowlers throw two frames each for the team.

McCoy was the third man in Boyle’s rotation, throwing frames three and eight. After six games of qualifying and a single elimination tournament comprised of a best of three series, the Rebels played a total of 13 games.

McCoy came up clutch for the Rebels, striking in 23 of his 26 frames, and was perfect from game four on.

“He was locked in to say the least. He certainly has the capability to get on a roll like he was last night at any given time and our team needs that,” Boyle bowling coach Zach Cooley said. “I probably should have moved him to the anchor spot but I didn’t want to change anything up because our whole team was in a pretty good rhythm the entire night.”

In addition to the boys team placing first in its tournament, Boyle’s girls placed second in theirs.

Up next for the Rebels is a competition at Bowlarama on Dec. 28 starting at 1:00 p.m.
