Bobby Gene Bodner

1935-2020

Bobby Gene Bodner, 84, of Crab Orchard, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2020, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Hospital in Danville. He was the husband of Phyllis Jean (Howard) Bodner whom he married on December 21, 1957. Bobby was born in Lincoln County on June 23, 1935, to the late Fred and Mary Robert (Rice) Bodner. He was a veteran of the United States Army having been stationed in Alaska and serving as a special Honor Guard. 

Bobby had worked for the Kentucky State Highway Department as a highway engineer. He had worked as a resident engineer for both Madison and Rockcastle Counties during his career. Bobby also was a director in the Federal Aviation Administration and retired as State Director of Aeronautics in 1996. He was a member of the Watts Chapel Baptist Church. Bobby was a wonderful man, his family was truly blessed with such a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors Include His loving wife of 62 years, Phyllis Bodner of Crab Orchard; Son, Bobby Bodner, Jr. of Richmond; Son, Ben Howard Bodner of Crab Orchard; Two Grandsons, Berek Gene Bodner & Wife Ashley and Robert Lucas Bodner & Wife Joni; Six Great Grandchildren: Riley, Alayna, Mia Kate, Emma, Andrea & Hannah; Sister -In-Laws, Grace Harness & Bennie Reynolds and families

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by a Daughter, Mary Margaret Bodner; Five Siblings, Josephine Williams, Harry Bodner, Viola Campbell, Jack Bodner & Buddy Bodner

Serving as pallbearers are James Reynolds, John Robert Harness, Corey Hurst, Riley Bodner, Steve Campbell, Harry Bodner, Jr. & Michael Bodner

Honorary Pallbearers are Sons, Bobby and Ben Bodner and Grandsons, Berek & Robert Bodner

Funeral Services: 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dan Gutenson officiating. Burial will be in the Crab Orchard Cemetery

Visitation will be after 6 PM on Tuesday, February 11th at McKnight Funeral Home.
