An emergency meeting was held this morning where Danville City Commission declared the city as being in a state of emergency due to the COVID-19 precautions. City hall will close at noon today (Tuesday, March 17) and remain closed to the public until further notice.

City staff will still be reporting to duty, but most city business will be done via email and fax. The police department, for example, will fulfill requests — such as accident reports— by email and fax only. Chief Tony Gray said anyone with questions about requests can call (859) 238-1224.

Staff is also working to set up remote technology in order to continue city commission meetings with public input, but until that process is complete, the Monday, March 23 city commission meeting is canceled.
