Ephraim McDowell Health announces that it is changing its visitation policies as follows. Visiting hours are 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. each day. 

All visitors must observe the following:

• Must wear a mask at all times and should bring a mask from home if available (cloth acceptable). One tie mask will be given when needed.
• All visitors must be screened (temperature checked, questions asked, must sign in) when entering the facility. Visitors will be screened for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and asked if they have a COVID-19 pending test. If the visitor has signs or symptoms or if they have a pending COVID-19 test, they will not be allowed to enter.
• All visitors shall wash hands frequently while in the facility. Wash with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer when entering and leaving the facility.

Outpatient surgery patients — Ephraim McDowell Health has taken specific steps for the protection of our patients and Associates.  Effective Wednesday, May 20, individuals having outpatient surgery will be allowed one visitor when they are in recovery after their surgery if the patient is negative for COVID-19. The support person will need to remain in their car until called by staff.

Inpatients — Effective Thursday, May 21, inpatients will be allowed one visitor per day at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital and Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital. Visitors must stay in the patient’s room the entire time, once they leave the room they must leave the facility. (Exception — visitors are only allowed out of the patient’s room to pick up food that is delivered to the hospital). No visitors are allowed in the ICU, in rooms with COVID-19 positive patients or COVID-19 symptomatic rule out patients and units.

Other facilities — No visitors are allowed in the emergency departments, primary care clinics, specialty clinics, diagnostic clinics and the women’s breast & health center. There are some exceptions such as outpatient pharmacy customers, minors, passing patients, patient sitters and those who are power of attorney or health care surrogates for a patient. 

Behavioral Health Unit at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center — One visitor allowed per day for a one hour supervised visit determined by the unit from the hours of 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

OB Restrictions at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center and Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital — Effective March 30, the support person who accompanies a laboring mother to the Labor Delivery Unit at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center and Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital must remain on the unit until the mother and baby are discharged. Meals will be provided during their stay.

 

McDowell Place of Danville

Only those involved in the direct care or end of life care of the residents will be permitted to enter the building. Staff and individuals who are permitted to enter will continue to be screened at the front desk. Per CDC recommendations, to avoid potential exposure, we ask that all residents remain in the building. All non-essential transportation for residents will be suspended.
