Wilma Lee Padgett Rice

1955 – 2021

Wilma Lee Padgett Rice, age 65, of Kings Mountain, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, June 10., 2021 in Danville, Kentucky. Born Friday, October 21, 1955, in Stanford, she was the daughter of Ova Sims Padgett and the late Hershel “Dee”. Wilma was a hard worker and worked as a Bus Driver for over 20 years for Lincoln County. She was a wonderful cook, known for her No Bake Oatmeal Cookies. Wilma loved her family dearly, especially her grandson, Colin Ryan Rice. She loved to read, decorate houses, write Christmas plays and loved horses.

Wilma leaves behind one son, Jonathan Rice (Maylanie) of Nicholasville, Kentucky; the father of her son, Charley Bob Rice of Centere, Alabama; two brothers, Joey Padgett (Gidget) and Rodney (Arlene) Padgett, both of Waynesburg, Kentucky; four sisters, Darlene Padgett, Connie Gonzalez, Kathy Padgett and Marilyn Padgett, all of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews that mourn her passing.

In addition to her father, Wilma was preceded in death by one brother, Hershel “Junior” Padgett Jr.; and one sister, Peggy Rogers.

A Public Funeral Service will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home. Bro. Vola Brown will officiate the service. Darlene Padgett, Connie Gonzalez, Kathy Padgett, Marilyn Padgett, Gidget Padgett, Marie Padgett and Catherine Padgett will serve as Active Pallbearers.

A Public Visitation will be held 5-8PM Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the funeral home. A Second Visitation will be held 9AM-2PM Wednesday.
