This week our featured pets are Luna the dog and Bruce the cat, available for adoption through DBCHS’s Home To Home program.

When we bring a dog or cat into our family, we intend for it to be “furever.” But things happen, and there are times when rehoming a pet may well be the most compassionate and responsible thing to do. That’s where the online service Home To Home™ comes in.

Home To Home is a unique, direct-to-adopter program for people looking to re-home their animals. In just a few simple steps, pets can find a loving new home without ever seeing the inside of a shelter.

Home To Home is free for both owners and adopters and gives animals needing a new home the best of both worlds: their current family can find the best fit, and their adopter can learn about their personality and preferences first-hand.

DBCHS is committed to using its resources to help people keep pets out of the shelter with safety nets like Home To Home™. Last year we helped place more than 130 pets in new homes.

Now let’s do the same for our Pets of the Week, Luna and Bruce.

Luna is a one-year-old Shar-Pei/Blue Heeler mix, and according to her current family, “She is kid-friendly and gets along with other animals. We have a cat who she loves. Luna is very sweet and just wants love and attention. We just aren’t home enough anymore to cater to her, so she isn’t getting the care and love she deserves. We just want her to go somewhere she will be loved.”

Bruce is a 14-week-old male shorthaired domestic cat. His current family describes him as “Very loving and loves cuddles and belly rubs. Very bright and funny with loads of personality. Has been socialized with other cats and gets along great with a supervised introduction, but does not get along with large dog breeds or very young children.”
