Perkins picked for Kentucky All-Stars

The 45th District will be represented by another standout pitcher in the Kentucky-Tennessee All-Star Series on Wednesday in Lebanon, Tenn. Garrard County’s Kelsey Perkins will join district rival Boyle County’s Katy Grace Chadwell as a member of the Kentucky team in the three game series.

As a pitcher, Perkins posted a record of 27-5 and a 2.31 ERA with 258 strikeouts to lead the Lady Lions to the 45th District championship and a runner-up finish in the 12th Region Tournament.

At the plate, Perkins boasted a .479 batting average while slugging .630. She also hit four home runs, and drove in 37 runs.

“Kelsey had a tremendous season. She shows that hard work and determination pay off,” Garrard coach Todd Montgomery said of his senior. “It means a lot to her to represent Garrard but it also shows how our program is building further momentum. Each year we have been able to see the depth of players and quality of play improve. Kelsey has shoved the bar to a high level. The underclassmen are already working hard to  continue that success and push the program to even higher levels.”

The All-Star Series will be a best of three, with game one now starting at 10 a.m. CST at Friendship Christian High School.
