Stanford Police officers seized large amounts of various narcotics during a recent incident.
According to Police Chief Zach Middleton, Stanford Police officers were assisting the county with a complaint of a suspicious vehicle on Aug. 15 when the vehicle fled from officers.
After a short pursuit, the vehicle came to a stop in Junction City.
“Upon the stop, the operator consumed a large amount of suspected narcotics and started exhibiting signs of an overdose,” Middleton said.
Officers rendered care to the subject until Emergency Medical Services arrived.
A search of the vehicle turned up a large quantity of narcotics including almost 300 grams of methamphetamine, over 70 grams of heroin (brown and black tar) and fentanyl in the powder and pill pressed forms.
Middleton said various other drugs were found in the vehicle.
“Due to the operator’s serious medical condition at the time, the subject was not arrested,” he said.
A female passenger was arrested on outstanding warrants.
The case remains under investigation by SPD Officers Preston Middleton and Jonathan Wilburn and charges are expected.
