Five waived to grand jury, two will appear Wednesday

Five of the eight men who were arrested in a sex sting operation involving the Boyle County Sheriff’s Department were scheduled for preliminary hearings in the Boyle County District Court on Wednesday, but found their cases waived to the Boyle County Grand Jury.
The cases of Dequan L. Brown, 23, of Lebanon; Joseph A. Brown, 49, of Danville; Hubert D. Carter, 52, of Ennis, Texas; Michael S. Cruse, 46, of Columbus, Mississippi; and Justin P. Jones, 40, of Stanford, were waived according to records in the Boyle County District Court Clerk’s Office.
Mark A. Shelton, 33, of Stanford, and Shawn A. Williams, 39, of Springfield, are scheduled to appear in the Boyle County District Court for a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Paul F. Hilpp, 28, of Lebanon, is scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. on Jan. 2. He is out of jail on a $15,000 bond.
Cruse has bonded out of jail on a $20,000 bond; Carter has bonded out on a $10,000 bond; and Jones has bonded out of jail on a $15,000 bond.
Dequan L. Brown, Joseph A. Brown, Shelton and Williams remain lodged in the Boyle County Detention Center.
