Boyle County is planning to lower the speed limit on 10 of its smaller roads.

The limit is currently 35 miles per hour, but a new ordinance being drafted could lower it to 25 miles per hour.

The roads are:

  • Chenault Bridge Road
  • Cream Ridge Road
  • Gose Pike (south of U.S. 150)
  • Locklin Lane
  • Old Bridge Drive
  • Persimmon Knob Road
  • Pope Road
  • Quarry Road
  • Tuggle Road
  • Waterworks Road

In addition, the proposed ordinance would set the speed limit at 25 miles per hour for all the Hunt Farm subdivision roads, which were recently accepted into the county road system.

County magistrates said many of the roads are narrow, winding and/or hilly, with blind spots that make high speed dangerous. There are also many homes on the roads where kids could be outside playing.

Magistrates approved drafting the new ordinance this week; they will still have to give it first and second readings before it could take effect.
