A Lexington man was arrested early Saturday morning after breaking into a building on Centre College campus who was armed with a bat.

At 6:40 a.m., Danville Police officers responded to a Centre College Athletics building at 250 Beatty Ave. due to a male who was inside after breaking glass out of an exterior door to enter the building.

William B. Vernon, 48, was found to have taken off his clothing and was wearing other clothing he had found inside the building. He had also loaded miscellaneous clothes and tools into a John Deer utility vehicle and was in possession of a key belonging to a Chevrolet pickup truck owned by Centre, according to police.
