Mother of 3 charged with possession

On Saturday Sept. 24 at 7:15 p.m., Danville Police responded to 25 Holladay Drive in reference to unattended children inside a vehicle. Upon arrival officers located three children inside a vehicle ages 4, 2, and 2 months. The mother of the children was found inside an apartment. Officers were able to determine the children had been left alone inside the vehicle for 35-40 minutes.
The children’s mother, Cynthia Goins, was inside an apartment. Goins was with a male subject who was suffering narcotic intoxication. Officers rendered aid to the male who was actively overdosing on an unknown substance. Danville City Fire and Boyle County EMS responded to the scene and the male was transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for further treatment. Goins, 26, of Danville was arrested and charged with three counts of wanton endangerment and three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.
A search of the vehicle where the children were located yielded small amounts of marijuana, heroin and methamphetamine. Goins was additionally charged with possession of all three substances. Social services assisted Danville Police during the incident and the children were released to a family member. They were unharmed.
Sunday morning Sept. 25 at 6 a.m. Danville Police responded back to the area of 25 Holladay Drive. Hunter Blake was found in the area. Blake advised he was looking for his vehicle and phone. Blake was the subject involved in the incident from earlier and had been released from medical treatment. It is unknown how Blake got back to the area, or of his whereabouts since being released and he had no recollection of the previous events and believed he had been released from jail. Blake was determined to be under the influence and was charged by Danville Police with public intoxication. Due to his level of intoxication, Blake was cited and released to medical staff at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for further treatment.
Intruder charged with burglary
On Saturday Sept. 24 at 9:25 p.m. Danville Police responded to a suspicious person call on Ben Ali Drive. Officers were notified that a male subject was observed “banging” on one of the apartment doors. Officers went to the apartment in question and observed signs of forced entry.
Officers could hear a subject inside. It was also learned that the residents of the apartment were out of town. Officers announced their presence from the back rear door. The subject inside attempted to exit the front door, where other officers were stationed.
Trae Grey, 32, of Danville was quickly apprehended. Evidence on scene suggested that Grey used a large ice scraper to pry open the door window, then reached inside to open the door. A search of Grey’s person yielded drug paraphernalia, and a pill bottle containing several narcotic pills. Grey was arrested and charged with burglary 2nd degree, possession of burglary tools, trafficking a controlled substance 1st degree over 10 dosage units, public intoxication, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Grey was also served a Boyle County warrant for failure to appear.
