City to add 3-way stop near splash pad in Green Acres

The intersection of Parkview Drive and Cecil Street, where it turns into Boone Trail, will go from a one-way stop to a three-way stop intersection in the near future.

Danville City Engineer John Cassel said the three-way stop is a way to slow down traffic in the area. The neighborhood demographics is becoming younger, and more kids are playing and riding bicycles in the area, and families with young children are walking down Parkview to the splash pad, Cassel said.

“We want to get people to be more careful,” slow down, and take the time to watch out for children and pedestrians, he added.

The change will take place within the next two weeks when the road crew will add stop signs and paint the stop lines on the streets.
