Art activities at farmers’ market scheduled for Saturday

The Arts Commission and Boyle County Farmers’ Market are all about art on Saturday, June 26.

Constitution Square will be filled with beautiful sights to see and hear as local farmers will offer their locally grown products for sale, artists will be painting and exhibiting, children will be singing and dancing, and creating. You can even get a delicious breakfast or lunch to enjoy while soaking up the atmosphere.

The summer’s second children’s art activity will be held and this one is especially for the 9 and over bunch. Thanks to a grant from the Good Foods Co-op Foundation, children will be able to experience basket weaving with instruction from basket maker Teresa Arnold. At the conclusion of the class the students will have a completed basket, receive a beautiful book, and a voucher to spend at the market on items to put in the basket.

The class has limited spaces so everyone will have plenty opportunity to work with the instructor. Class will be held in the Old Schoolhouse beginning at 9 a.m.  Reserve space for your child at arts@historicdanvilleky.com. The class is free.

The Arts Commission will also be hosting the Plein Air Artists of Central Kentucky who will be set up to capture the sights of farmers, shoppers, artists, and other performers throughout the day. Artists welcome the opportunity to talk with visitors and discuss their work in progress.

The Schoolhouse will be open to observe the basket class students in action and to see the art on exhibit. This will be the last day to see the Farmer’s Market art exhibit. A new exhibit will open in July.

The market and the basket class will be held rain or shine.
