CentreWorks LIFTOFF participants featured in gallery hop

Program offers learning for aspiring entrepreneurs

CENTREWORKS

News release

On June 11, the annual gallery hop was hosted by the Arts Commission of Danville/Boyle County. Dozens of artists participated in showing off their works, from paintings to unique lamps to glass-blown jewelry. These artists brought their own creativity and individuality to the gallery hop, but several artists had one thing in common. A number of these regional artists participated in the CentreWorks LIFTOFF program.

In 2020, CentreWorks launched as a new opportunity for the broader Boyle County community to begin their individual entrepreneurial journey. The CentreWorks mission is centered around coaching participants through the entrepreneurial mindset and building connections to strengthen the regional community. CentreWorks aims to form an inclusive environment that values all voices and perspectives in the community. CentreWorks sees the inclusion of diverse opinions necessary to the process in creating well-rounded, community-centered programming.

CentreWorks has divided this entrepreneurial journey up into several unique programs that provide the opportunity to receive thorough mentoring, advice, and education. For instance, LIFTOFF, the program many of the gallery hop participants graduated from focuses on learning what it means to be an entrepreneur and envisioning how to design a business that benefits the people they serve. The co-founders of CentreWorks, Anthony and Andrea Margida, see CentreWorks as an opportunity for growth, connection, and innovation for the entire region.

CentreWorks is determined to alter the way people view entrepreneurship and start up accelerator programs. With a focus on empathy, grit, curiosity, and other attributes of the entrepreneurial mindset, CentreWorks has created an environment that welcomes all members of the broader community to pursue new paths and form new connections. CentreWorks is currently opening its new space on the third floor of the building where The Hub coffee shop is located. During the gallery hop, this space was utilized to showcase their artists, but it will not be officially opened until later this summer. CentreWorks will be a resource to all members of the community via programs and co-working spaces.
